Q: How much and is it worth it?
A: $145 for the Optishot Controllers and yes.
Q: Do I need any other software?
A: It depends. The Optishot Controllers are plug and play, no software needed. Your computer will recognize the board immediately just like any keyboard. The Custom Controllers require a free and lightweight program that allows you to customize the function of the buttons and save profiles.
Q: Cool setup, what do you use for your screen and where did you get the mats from?
A: The screen is a standard king-sized flat bed sheet. Seriously. Works great, very cheap and easily replaceable! I got the mats from the local driving range. They had a bunch of old ones that they were looking to unload. You can also buy this premium Golf Mat that fits the Optishot sensor board perfectly.
Q: What type of golf balls do you use?
A: I use Almost Golf balls. They are great and perfectly safe for an indoor golf setup.
Q: What light do you use over the sensor pad?
A: That is an LED Pinspot light typically used for disco balls. It is screwed into the ceiling above the sensor and works great. I plug this light into a Wireless Remotely Controlled Outlet so I can easily turn it on or off. I placed another small lamp over my club rack and control that also with the remote. Works great.
Q: Do you accept other forms of payment?
A: Yes! I accept Apple Pay. Just email me to arrange payment and I will send you a special link for ordering.
Q: Do you accept returns?
A: I haven't had to yet but if you wish to return the GolfinGator then please email me to discuss.
Q: Can I change the 6-button configuration to work different functions?
A: Maybe, just email me and let me know what you're thinking! Instead, may I suggest the Custom Controller, which can be easily modified as often as you'd like to work any golf simulator, not just Optishot.
Q: When will I receive mine?
A: After you order I will custom build the board to your specs. Start to finish, with 2-3 day shipping it takes about a week.
Q: Random question, do you wear golf shoes indoors?
A: Yes, check out these DAWGS Golf slip-on shoes. Lightweight and they are great in the summer!
Q: How is the controller connected?
A: I use a USB Extension Hub near the controller to combine the controller's USB with the Optishot USB, then run the single line from the hub to the computer.
